Pink Glass Lady out and about . . . . . .

Firstly, Hello to all the lovely people I met last week at the Emerald Antique Fair.  Thank you to braving the chilly, wet weather and coming out to see us all.  I hope you took home treasures.

I did promise to update my blog to those that took my card - and now, thanks to the marvels of technology, I can now retrieve some of the photos taken that day.  If there was anything that took your fancy on the day - please leave me a comment with a means to find you and we'll take it from there.

Fine Pink Tumbers on a Pink Glass Tray - $28

All prices quoted are in Australian Dollars.  Postage is not included - due to the fragile nature of this glass, pickup from the Frankston, Victoria area is preferred

Pink Glass Fish Float Bowl - Reduced from $250 down to $175 - 3 piece set would make a stunning centrepiece

A gentler time, an elegant way of life.....

Time to show off another piece of my collection.  These were part of my mother's collection - I have two decanters and four tea glasses.  These are so very nice and I'd love to live in a time, where they would be used more often.  (menfolk do not understand the sweetness of pink glass!)
The closeup here shows the detail and crispness of the pattern.  I believe my mum had these tea glasses in her collection from the late 50's.  I seem to remember picking up one of the decanters on one of my 'picking' expeditions and presenting it to her, only to discover she already had one... oh well, it balances the table to place two out for service.
I'll have to unbury the next item I want to show off, that cabinet is so well packed...  Never mind - time to dust anyway....

This little piggy went to market . . . . . .

First things first ....

Why is it everytime I need to reverse park, and I do it successfully, there is never a witness??  Today I found the neatest place to park my little Curore - and did get a high-5 from a total stranger.  I took a photo - and to my chagrin, I didn't even manage to capture the front section of the little alcove that I found, but trust me, it is only about 2foot in front of the car.

Now to the market - It was chilly, very, very chilly.  Although outside, I was lucky to have a building behind me, which sheltered me from any breeze.  I waited and waited for the sunshine - it came out from time to time, but blessed be, there was NO rain while I was there.

This is my stand, just before open time.   Yes - a bit of pink glass here and there.... pretty much all of the creamer & sugar sets went and all the teacups.  I came home with one box left than I arrived and am happy with the result.  I met lots and lots of people - and hopefully some of them are YOU, reading this blog today.

One lovely lady was asking about a completely different type of glass and I promised to show photos here tonight....

This is pretty much the only art glass I have.  These are lamp bases - the hole for the electricals have been created while the glass was molten.  They stand 17 inches tall.  The yellow one still has the original sandbag in the base and remains of the cork stopper and metal capping.  The blue one has been re-wired so that a light can be placed inside, showing the pattern on the glass.
This is cased glass and the pattern formed by complete bubbles in the coloured section - in such an ordered pattern - showing mastery by the glass manufacturer.  I don't believe these are by Murano, but certainly a top quality piece of glassware.
There is no signature on the base.  They are both for sale, but I would be hesitant to put these into the post  - so local enquiries only please.

Brushing away the Cobwebs ..........

Cough, cough, cough....splutter......

Can you see me?     Let me clear a bit more of this dust away.......

Yes, I know.....other obsessions got in the way for awhile......  check out my main blog to see what I've been up to for the past year or so....  (hope you like sheep!)
It's time in my life to purge my collection - a girl can only display so much glassware.  I cannot be just picking up everything I see - anything pink.        I really, really can't.
In order to be selective, I've thinned it out a bit here and there and have decided that to sell my glassware, ebay has become a bit too prohibitive, especially when it comes to the cost of postage.  Trash & Treasure, Garage or Yard Sales, or Sunday Markets also are the wrong venue - people expect to pay way below the value of what I have to offer.    Therefore - Antique & Collectable Markets !!!!!!

I'm off to one tomorrow - will have my little car loaded up - my goal is to come home with less than I set out with.
For all that read this in time:  Sassafrass Antique & Collectable Fair will be held at the Sassafrass Primary School on Easter Saturday - 6 April 2012.   This is my 2nd time back into the market arena.  My last dip of the big toe was over a year ago in December 2010
I'll try to remember to take photos (in my less busy moments - between selling all my stock to eager customers!)
Let me leave you with a quick snap of my cupboard - a wee bit of Mayfair....
